The Welsh Liberal Democrats have elected Kirsty Williams as their first ever female leader in Wales. Kirsty will now be the first female leader of a political party in Wales.
In this historic election, Kirsty gained 59.9% of the members vote while Jenny Randerson gained 40.1% of the vote. The all member ballot saw a turnout of 69.44%.
Christine Humphreys, President of the Welsh Liberal Democrats said:
"After weeks of campaigning from both sides, today is a culmination of the hard work both have put in. Welsh Liberal Democrats have chosen to elect Kirsty as their new leader. The first female leader in Welsh politics. "I know that Kirsty is ambitious about bringing some major changes to Wales - I can't wait to start working with her to make it happen."
